This cable requires a separately available Promote Control HDR bracketing controller unit.

Using a separate shutter cable with Promote Control offers the following benefits:

• Enables Bulb Ramping / Bulb HDR modes
• Provides Mirror Lock-Up functionality
• Allows automated exposures longer than 30 seconds
• Ensures faster camera reaction to shutter release, especially in "High Dynamic Range" mode
• Activates "Manual Hold" mode
• Enables arbitrary shutter speeds in "One Shot" and "Time Lapse" modes
• Allows pre-focusing the camera using the Promote Control "Focus" button
• Enables basic Promote Control shutter release functionality even when out of battery power

This shutter cable is compatible with the following cameras:

Canon 1D Mark III, 1Ds Mark III, 1D Mark IV, 1D X, 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, 6D, 7D, 30D, 40D, 50D

NOTE 1: Canon 10D, 20D, 5D Mk I, 1D/1Ds MkI and 1D/1Ds MkII cameras are not supported by the Promote Control HDR mode (with or without CN3 cable). Only a limited subset of basic features such as One-Shot, Time Lapse and Manual Hold are possible on these cameras, and would require a CN3 cable to be connected.

NOTE 2: Canon 5D Mk III and 6D cannot be automatically switched to Bulb mode if/when required by HDR bracketing (>30 second exposures only). A prompt will be shown on the Promote Control screen if a Bulb mode is required in HDR mode.

All other cameras mentioned above are fully compatible, including HDR mode.
